Internet Providers in the Riverina

Finding reliable internet within the Riverina can often take a lot of work. Many ISPs will sell you an internet solution that does not work correctly to give themselves a bit of quick work.

Because of this, you should always do research on all available options. Within the Riverina, NBN may not be a viable or reliable option. Because of this, I have created a list of ISP Types and listed where they are best used.

NBN Providers:

NBN providers will provide your internet using whatever is currently available on the NBN at your residence. This often means they will use an existing phone line to provide the internet.

Although this works well in towns and short distances out of towns, you will experience a poor internet connection if the line is too long. This can also happen if the line used is of poor quality.

Fixed Wireless NBN:

Fixed Wireless NBN connects to the NBN network but uses a Wireless connection from a tower to a dish on your roof. Fixed wireless can give good internet speeds without running a cable to a house.

Fixed wireless needs a good view of its target (Usually a mobile tower) to get a reliable connection.

Private Fixed Wireless:

Private fixed wireless is very similar to NBN fixed wireless. The major difference between them is how they receive their internet connection. Private fixed wireless networks often have one or several jumps before connecting to a fibre point.

The performance of private fixed wireless depends on the provider. Always research the speeds and performance of these services before selecting them.

Satellite NBN:

Satellite NBN connects to the NBN network by sending data to a satellite before returning it to the NBN. Because of the significant distance this data has to travel, satellite NBN has the poorer performance than other types of NBN connections.

Private Satellite:

Private satellite internet is a form of internet that works through satellite antennas like Satellite NBN. Much like private fixed wireless, they are usually routed through a private network before entering the internet.

Some private satellite companies have incorporated low-orbit satellites. These satellites are much closer to Earth than regular satellites. However, they usually move around the sky as increased speed is required to maintain orbit.
